#1
Hello everyone!

Welcome to our October project status update.
Today we are not only posting update message, we are also releasing our second release candidate to public testing.
So, if you want to test new features, and see the development progress, we are proud to say, that you can do it now. Tongue

Summary:

Our very hardworking team is doing some progress, and we think that this is good. Big Grin
We decided to release this RC2 to show our users that we are still doing something and not standing on same place. Also, we are not sure about will that release candidate be the last one (next one will be a full release). Or keep pumping that release candidates, until we will be finally sure about stability and quality of mod. We'd like to know what are you thinking about that. So let us know what do you think in the comments!

Progress:

We've fixed a large number of issues, almost enormous (by our calculations). Most of them you can see here:
(Also we've added some new stuff there)

Code:
- Fixed crash related to nametags rendering.
- Fixed crash after spawning cars on player connect.
- Fixed crash when quitting game while being on server.
- Fixed crash when quitting game or leaving server while sitting in vehicle.
- Fixed crash related to making screenshots while game window was in windowed mode that was matching dimensions to the display size.
- Fixed setting of vehicle parameters (color etc) right after vehicle spawn by script.
- Fixed colors in chat, in nametags and client-side scripting method getPlayerColour.
- Fixed incorrect count of players returned by server-side getPlayers scripting method.
- Fixed problem when mod was overriding game data files wrong way. (Particles are back!)
- Fixed problem with disappearing character after removing car while sitting in it.
- Fixed connecting to different server when connection to one server was closed.
- Fixed audio not stopping when leaving the server.
- Fixed installer not getting custom path and using the default path always.
- Fixed high cpu usage when server is idle.
- Fixed possible crashes related to license plate setting.
- Fixed various issues with gui mouse.
- Fixed various memory leaks.
- Fixed various smaller crashes and bugs.
- Improved nametags rendering so those are rendered under all overlay elements.
- Improved rendering of multiplayer overlay graphics.
- Improved peds synchronization.
- Improved vehicle color setting/getting.
- Improved installer so it uses the current install path in case of update.
- Improved error reporting in case exe checksum calculation fails.
- Updated all libraries to new versions on whole codebase.
- Updated license distributed with installer.
- Various optimizations related both to CPU and network usage.
- Replaced crashrpt library with custom crash dump generator.
- Removed vehicles client-side spawn delay.
- Removed tons of unused code.

That's cool, you'd say, but you have many other bugs, you'd say, look at damn sync, you'd say. Yah, we know, there still many things to fix.
We are trying our best to make it happen. Smile

Future:

Our team is still consist of same members (will be listed below). And we are still trying to make best of our free time and to do as much as we can.
We have thinking about future of mod, about critical things, and about our ideas.
Some of our next planned features/fixes for the mod are:

  1. Create server builds for linux
  2. Update wiki for all scripting methods
  3. Add togglable playertags and healthbars
  4. Add custom chat handlers
  5. Fix bug with a car being underground sometimes
  6. Fix car spawning locked
  7. Fix video settings menu

In my opinion, you guys should be releasing new RC versions as you progress in development of the client. This gives the community food for discussion and actually shows everyone that things are really moving forward and that its not just words. Not that I need it, and would check every new feature or bug fix, knowledge of there being new release always brings positivity and certainty.

And thanks for all your hard work.
